Veil privacy policy
Effective date: October 7, 2026
Veil - Screen Privacy & Blur Redactor processes webpage text on your device to detect and visually mask sensitive information. Page text and detected values are not sent to the developer or any external service. The extension contains no analytics, advertising, or remote code.
Local processing and storage
Veil reads text on pages where it is enabled and temporarily modifies the page display. It stores preferences, excluded domains, custom regular expressions, and manual element/area blur locations in Chrome's local extension storage. Manual blur records include the page origin and pathname, element selectors, rectangle coordinates, and a timestamp. Element selectors may contain page element IDs. The extension does not use Chrome storage sync or upload these records.
Use Clear All on a page to remove that page's saved manual blur locations. Remove custom rules and excluded domains in Settings. Uninstalling the extension removes its local extension storage.
Permissions
Website access allows automatic redaction on visited pages, including frames. Storage preserves settings and manual blur locations. Active-tab access supports controls for the current page. Context-menu access provides right-click redaction commands.
Sharing and contact
The developer does not receive, sell, or share extension user data. Contact and support: https://veil.rhezlabs.com/support
Limits
Veil provides visual masking. It does not remove information from the source website or guarantee detection of every sensitive value. Revealing masked text makes it visible again. Browser-controlled pages, such as chrome:// pages, cannot be redacted by this extension.
## Website support form
When you submit a website support request, your name, reply email, topic, and message are processed by Cloudflare and emailed to Veil support to respond to your request. This is separate from the extension's local webpage processing. Do not include secrets or personal webpage content. The form uses Cloudflare Turnstile for abuse prevention; the verification request includes your IP address. The website does not store support messages in an application database. Support correspondence remains in the support inbox until deleted. To request deletion, contact support through the form.
